Occasionally life gives you a couple of nice things amidst all the crap. Just some food for thought!

Well, it's Christmas again! The last few days have been great. I'm lucky and truly fortunate to have the family and friends I have. Thanks, from the bottom of my heart, for always being there.

Enough mushy stuff, on to a long overdue sketch! Based on a happy little dream I had last night.... :)

More book art...

I'm working on a couple larger pieces, which is sucking away taking most of my sanity brain power at the moment. So, just another doodle for today!

This time it's Annabeth Chase from the FANTASTIC Percy Jackson series. Seriously, I know it's meant for younger kids but I love them sooo much. Just finished book two and on to starting book three! Annabeth is my favourite so far. (Although I have to admit, even though he only had a minor role so far, I love Hades too. Not surprising though... I usually end up liking Hades in most stories) She's just awesome!

I was watching some old clips from various animated movies I watched when I was a kid and I got the urge to draw non-Disney princesses. Two, that is. But I love them.

Seems I keep doing this....

Yeah, missed the second update last week. Unfortunately, on Wednesday I received some truly devastating news and it took me a little while to recover. Not to worry, I'm on the mend and while I know there are still gonna be some rough days ahead, I'll keep doing my best to push through.

Enough about that.

On Saturday, my best friend, my sister and I went to Toronto. While there, we were fortunate enough to find out that the Cavalcade of Lights was on that night! Anyone who knows me knows how much I adore fireworks. So we extended our shopping trip to include the show! And here are some shots from it!

Princess...

Fighting off a nasty bugger of a cold, but quickly drew this before I passed out last night:

Yeeah... with the Sailor Moon manga being re-released, I've been getting a little obsessed again. Don't judge me! This is my childhood coming back to me! I really need to design the SM tattoo I want to get one day! (And the Wonder Woman one... and the butterflies... etc etc... hahaha)

Kind of random.

Having never read Harry Potter before, I find myself amazed that this picture even happened. I was always sort of a closet fan of Lily and Snape (not necessarily together, just in general) from all the fan-art that has popped up on my DA watches for years. Then I got all the soundtracks for the movies (I'm a movie score whore!) and fell in love with them, so I guess that's where the inspiration for this came from.

That said.. the pic still should have been something to do with SNAPE and Lily... not James and Lily, but whatever. I'm gonna roll with it. Maybe I'll do a Snape/Lily thing later!

Life is getting away from me!

I've been bad for updates the last few weeks... Unfortunately, life is getting away from me. I'll be back and fresh next week, it's just right now I'm on my ..7th day straight and I'm a little burnt out, haha. It's a damn good thing I love my job!

Another addition to my series. The titles all relate to where the girls stand with love.

This one is actually another gift for a friend at work. In her particular case, I wanted to go with sugar that has a little bit of spice. "Green" referring to her experience rather than envy.

Other than that, not much else to say. I'm actually kind of pleased with how it turned out... I hope she likes it!

Gifting time.

Other than that, I'm in the middle of colouring the Ben and Olivia picture.. inking the Harry Potter (James/Lily) picture I posted a while back and will start colouring Green ASAP. Also trying to think of a name for my damn comic. Would you believe that particular thing is causing me the most mental anguish? Is it weird that I hate naming things because it feels like the title itself will trap me? Man, I really AM a commitaphobe. Hahaha.

I know it seems like I haven't been doing much lately, but in actual fact.. the first chapter of my script is done and I've started roughing out pages! Not only that, but I've been roughing out pages for a children's book as well! So, I've actually been doing a fair bit... I just, unfortunately, can't show anything yet! Ugh!! Haha.

One of the pieces I've coloured this weekend.. the other I'm a little stuck with one part, but it'll happen.

The colours on this totally didn't go where I had planned. I was going for flat old school comic colours, left it for a few weeks and then ended up playing with silhouettes. I haven't done them before, and I love them so much!

Busy weekend!

Sorry about the lack of update last week. I had intended to update once more before the weekend, but life got ahead of me.. and since I spent the weekend at two concerts (Britney Spears and LMFAO!), I ran outta time! But, here we go!

Here we have Alexis all finished! I'm not satisfied with this though... there's something about it that's bothering me. Hrm. Oh well! It was still fun (and I like her corset, haha. Are we noticing a trend?)

Disappointed

Another gift for a friend.. but it actually goes with my series of drawings. ("Jaded" and "Hopeful")

Got a little stressed out last night and while I finished writing the first chapter of my story (and started the scripting!) I just didn't feel like doing any artwork related to it.

More catch-up!

More things to catch up with.  Same thing, working with character designs. In this case, it's just one character mostly: Benjamin. In his case, he's actually one part of the bakery couple from before, but his background/personality are different. Ben is also taller. Considerably. So.. really... all I kept about "David" was the look. Hah. I guess that's how it goes when you like the look of a character!

Anyway. I'll stop now! More catch-up stuff to come this week.

I was relieved to realize that, while I hadn't updated, I was actually still drawing a lot. I just wasn't scanning it in! So I spent the afternoon catching up!

These are some character designs I'm still finalizing. I'm having a rough time deciding on style, mostly. And the writing part... but I always struggle with writing. Oh well. It'll come!

Zoo inspiration!

I got a little inspired from my trip to the zoo yesterday!

We didn't actually see the tropical fish, but I bought a lionfish stuffed animal and that made me wanna finally draw some!
