This one was the same client, this time requesting an image of her daughter in an Alice in Wonderland themed image with all her pets around her. :) I thought it would be a fun touch to make all the animals actual characters from the story!
After the fantastically spectacular fail with the original in marker, I attempted to use acrylics. It worked out MUCH better this time. Though there are definitely some things I would do differently next time.
The best part is that my friend loved it! So worth all the frustration!
I can assure you all that I've been working like crazy the last month, despite not posting!! Unfortunately, everything I've done has been Christmas commissions, so I can't post anything yet! However, I exchanged gifts with one of my close friends, so I can show you what I made her!
This is the prototype version of what I gave her. He's about 2" tall or so. He's one of those custom vinyl figures! I'm kind of addicted to making them haha. This particular one makes me massively sad because, when I used my sealer on him, the ink ran (the photos are pre-sealing).. not terribly bad but still enough for me to not be okay with giving it as a gift. But I still love him, so I'm happy to have him on my desk!
The original intent of the sketch card I posted the other day was to have it be a paired set. So here they are together! Yay! Gosh, I just love them together so much. It makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside.
Will colour after I fight my way out of my massive pile of projects, haha!
Last night's sketch session went a little better! Hopefully I'm through the worst of my little art block!!
Matt and Christie of Dramacon! I've been in love with Dramacon since the start and I've only just realized that I don't think I've ever drawn any of its characters! So I got a little inspired last night and went for it! This was supposed to be a couple years post-series.
For the sake of being 'honest' (I guess?) I'm gonna post my sketch from last night. I worked on it for longer than I want to (typically, my sketch commissions should take no more than 1 hour) and was not happy with the result. Oh well. Everything is a learning experience!!
So I'm in the process of (finally) posting some commission prices and I realized that I don't have any examples of sketch commissions! (Digital ones anyway) Mostly due to the fact that I delete all my sketch layers from files for space/speed reasons! So I set out to get some examples!
Pepper is my first sketch! It was also an attempt to (sort of) do a lingering request I had in my inbox!
About a month ago I did a contest on tumblr and the prize was a piece of art chosen by the winner! Here it is! The winner, who happens to be a lovely friend of mine, requested some Destiel and I was more than happy to oblige! In all honestly, I absolutely loving doing Destiel because it's such a challenge for me! This piece was no exception! But I really love the end result and I learned a LOT along the way! It was amazingly fun!! And the winner likes it, so that makes it doubly awesome!!! Tumblr: (x)
In an attempt to make my month, I'm going to rapid-fire some sketches I've left piling up! Here we go!
Starting off with my accidental Sterek! I was requested to do some Destiel for my contest winner on tumblr (which is super fun for me, because I love drawing Destiel, as it's a challenge for me!) and while doodling .. I accidentally Sterek'd. That's the gist of it!
I was in the States last week and saw this bitchin’ Justice League bag that you colour yourself… and because I’m 5 years old I bought two and coloured one of them tonight. With my expensive Copics. OH YEAAAH.
I actually kinda love it. Gonna rock the crap out of it at work. Bahahaha!
So Karen Gillan did her big reveal last night at SDCC 2013! I know a lot of people are still mourning the loss of her glorious red locks (which is fair, she had GORGEOUS hair before) but… guys…. I think she looks bloody fantastic! So that was what this piece was about!
